About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica Gonzalez-Rodgriguez.
Hello! My name is Jessica and I’m an international professional opera singer. I have sung across the US, from the California Theatre to Carnegie Hall, and perform with companies like Opera San José, Opera Santa Barbara, and Pacific Opera Project. Internationally, I've performed in Mexico with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Michoacan and in European cities including Vienna, Berlin, and Prague.
I have an extensive dance background across various styles. I first joined not one, but two professional dance companies at age 6 and have been dancing onstage for 34 years. I specialize in Flamenco, Mexican Folklorico, Bellydance, Hawaiian dance and Ballet technique to name a few. I can teach and adapt to any style with ease, and it has helped me tremendously in my career as an opera singer. I have even begun choreographing, most recently as both Choreographer and the Featured Flamenco Dancer in Opera San José’s production of Zorro.
I am a full believer that anyone can be a dancer. You already have the learning skills, attention to detail, and discipline needed to become a successful dancer, because you have cultivated those tools as a singer. Together, we can apply those skills to learning dance combinations and choreography.
Dance Spotlight:
Flamenco
As an experienced Flamenco dancer, I recently enjoyed the opportunity to not only perform in, but also choreograph the dance scenes for Opera San José's production of Zorro. Please enjoy this snippet of my work!
“I truly enjoyed working with Jessica on bringing Ana Maria’s and Zorro’s dance moment to life through her wonderful choreography. Her guidance helped me connect the physicality of the role. Thank you for also making me feel comfortable and confident.”
